15.5 kWp Solar, 23 kWh Battery & EV Charger Installation in Ipswich

DS Solar Maintenance designed and installed a large domestic renewable-energy system for a home in Ipswich, Suffolk. The completed installation combines solar generation, high-capacity battery storage and electric-vehicle charging in one integrated Fox ESS system.

The challenge: a large system and a difficult cable route

The size of this installation required careful planning across several roof sections. The property had also been extended, while the main electrical supply was positioned in the middle of the house. This made the cable route considerably more complex than on a standard installation.

Our team planned and completed the route through the property and inside the walls. This allowed us to connect the roof array, inverter, batteries and EV charger without leaving cables exposed inside the home. The result was a technically robust installation with a clean, discreet finish.

Maximising the available roof space

The 31 all-black panels were distributed across the available roof areas to create a total installed capacity of 15.5 kWp. Careful setting-out helped the system work around the roof shape, ridge lines, valleys and existing flue while maintaining a neat, balanced appearance.

Fox inverter and 23.04 kWh battery storage

A 10 kW Fox ESS hybrid inverter manages the solar array and two Fox ESS EP12 batteries. Together, the batteries provide 23.04 kWh of nominal storage, allowing more solar energy generated during the day to be stored for use later in the home.

Integrated Fox EV charging

We also installed a Fox ESS EV charger, giving the homeowner a complete solar, battery and electric-vehicle charging solution. Keeping the equipment within the same Fox ecosystem supports straightforward system monitoring and coordinated energy use.
